Discussion on the etiology and pathogenesis of chronic cough of the cold pattern in traditional Chinese medicine as well as its material basis in Western medicine
Chronic cough induced by cold stimulation is common clinically. TCM physicians of all dynasties have emphasized that the etiology of prolonged cough is mostly stasis

as well as coordinated work of internal and external colds. Our research team believes that cold cough induced by cold stimulation is characterized by internally and externally combined pathogens

and deficiency-excess complex. Transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) and transient receptor potential melastatin 8(TRPM8) cold sensory channels are involved in many links leading to the increased cough sensitivity
which may be one of the material bases for the pathogenesis of cold cough of chronic cough.
