Pathogenesis and treatment of migraine based on the Xuanfu(sweat pore) Qi-liquid theory
refers to microstructures as tiny as possible distributed all over the body
and its main functions include the circulation of Qi and fluids
infiltration of Qi and blood
and the operation of the
Shenji
. Dysfunction of the opening and closing of
Xuanfu
in the brain is the common foundation for the formation of various headache patterns. The important disease mechanisms of headaches include Qi depression in the
Xuanfu
turbid pathogen retained in the
Xuanfu
blood stasis in the
Xuanfu
and insufficiency of Qi and blood in the
Xuanfu
. Accordingly
in treatment
the basic therapeutic principle is to open the
Xuanfu
and regulate the blocked Qi
blood and body fluids in the human body to make it smooth. Therefore
those traditional Chinese medicinals with the effects of dispelling wind
rectifying Qi
transforming phlegm and freeing the network vessels can be chosen to treat migraine.
