Sympathetic chain syndrome is a disease in which various acute and chronic infections

internal and exogenous poisoning

trauma

spinal degenerative diseases

tumors

vascular diseases or other chronic irritating lesions damage different sympathetic ganglia

resulting in symptoms including pain

sensory disturbance

and vascular dysfunction

which may appear in different combinations based on the causes. Clinically

drugs and surgery are often used to relieve pain and block sympathetic nerves. In this study

the method of regulating the heart and calming the mind

clearing heat and dispelling dampness

and unblock the channels and quicken the collaterals was adopted for one case of sympathetic chain syndrome

which was treated with a combined use of heart-regulating and mind-calming acupuncture

conventional acupuncture

and Wonderfully Effective Four Powder. The eventual efficacy achieved was satisfactory

thus providing ideas for the treatment of the condition by traditional Chinese medicine.
