Differences in the expression of inflammatory factors in cord blood in infants with eczema with different TCM constitutions
To explore the expression difference of inflammatory factors in cord blood of infants with eczema of different TCM constitution types
so as to provide a basis for objectifying TCM constitution differentiation of children with eczema.
Methods
2
Healthy full-term newborns born at the Air Force Medical Center
PLA
from October 2020 to October 2021 were selected as subjects. Their cord blood was collected at birth
and TCM constitution identification was conducted on them within 24 - 72 hours after birth. At 42 days of follow-up
the infants were divided into the normal group and the eczema group according to the incidence of eczema
and their EASI scores of eczema were recorded. Further detection of TNF-α
IL-1β
IL-6
IL-25
IL-31 and IL-33 levels in the cord blood was conducted by ELISA kit.
Results
2
45 children were recruited in the normal group and 45 in the eczema group were collected
including the balanced constitution (
n
=15)
yin excessiveness constitution (
n
=15) and yang excessiveness constitution (
n
=15). The levels of IL-1β
IL-6
IL-31
IL-33 and TNF-α in cord blood in the eczema group were higher than those in normal group
while the level of IL-25 in cord blood in eczema group was lower than that in normal group. Further subgroup analysis of the eczema group showed that the levels of IL-1β and IL-6 in cord blood in those with the yin excessiveness constitution were lower than those of children with the balanced constitution
while the levels of IL-31 and TNF-α were higher than that of gentleness group. The cord blood of IL-31 and TNF-α in the yang excessiveness constitution were higher than that of the balanced constitution
while the levels of IL-1β and IL-6 in cord blood were higher than that of yin excessiveness constitution. Spearman correlation analysis showed that there was a positive correlation between TCM constitution score and IL-1β (
r
=0.272
P
=0.009)
IL-6 (
r
=0.271
P
=0.010).
Conclusion
2
The TCM constitutions of children with eczema are related to their levels inflammatory factors
which may be the basis for the objectification of newborn constitution identification.
