Essence of the Yenching Zhao School of Dermatology in treating senile pruritus using dampness theory
Pruritus (itching) of the skin is a common symptom that troubles elderly individuals. Due to the discomfort it causes
it has a significant impact on their physical and mental well-being. Professor Zhao Bingnan
founder of the Yenching Zhao School of Dermatology
built on the principle that "addressing dampness is crucial for treating half of all skin diseases
" and achieved desirable clinical result in the treatment of acute
chronic
and persistent pruritus in elderly patients using the theory of dampness. This article presents the experience of treating senile pruritus inherited from the Yenching Zhao School of Dermatology and also shares a case study with fellow practitioners.
