Objective To study the influence of Kangxianyi’ai Formula on metabolism of extracellular matrix in rats with liver fibrosis
and discuss the mechanism of its effect of anti-fibrosis.Methods The rat model of liver fibrosis was established by using diethylnitrosamine.Fufangbeijiaruangan Tablets and colchicine were taken as the control drugs.The influence of Kangxianyi’ai Formula on the histopathological changes of the liver in model rats were observed and the expressions of collagenⅠ

MMP-1 and TIMP-1 in rats of different groups were detected by using immunohistochemistry assay.Results In Kangxianyi’ai Formula group the expression of MMP-1 was significantly higher than that in the model control group or Fufangbeijiaruangan Tablets group respectively
the expressions of collagenⅠand TIMP-1 were significantly lower than those in the model control group
and the expression of collagenⅣwas significantly lower than that in the model control group or Fufangbeijiaruangan Tablets group. Conclusion Kangxianyi’ai Formula has significant effect of anti-fibrosis
and the mechanism may be related to that it can increase the expression of MMP-1
decrease the expression of TIMP-1
promote the degradation of extracellular matrix and reduce the aggradation of collagen.
