Objective To discuss the effect of Zengyepaiqi Decoction on the early recovery of gastrointestinal function in gynecologic patients after operation.Method All 240 patients were randomly divided into the treatment group （n=120） and control group （n=120） after panhysterectomy

half radical operation of endometriosis or appendages operation.Six hours after the operation

the treatment group began to take self-made Zengyepaiqi Decoction （1 dose/d）

and the control group began to drink warm water.The start time of postoperative expel flatus and defecation

and incidence rate of postoperative abdominal pain and distention were compared.Result The numerical statement was carried out respectively according to abdominal appendages operation

abdominal hysterectomy

laparoscopic appendages operation

laparoscopic hysterectomy

and postoperative use of anesthesia pump after abdominal hysterectomy.The result showed that the start time of postoperative expel flatus and defecation was shorter significantly in the treatment group than that in the control group （P<0.01）.The incidence rate of postoperative abdominal pain and distention was 6.7 % in the treatment group and 60.0% in the control group.Conclusion Zengyepaiqi Decoction can improve significantly the recovery of gastrointestinal function and postoperative rehabilitation in gynecologic patients after operation.
