Objective To observe the curative effect of Modified Jichuan Decoction on slow transit constipation (STC). Method The STC patients (n=98) were divided into the treatment group [treated with Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) and Jichuan Decoction
n=50] and control group (treated with Marenrunchang Pills
n=48). The relief of STC was observed after medicinals administration for one week and two weeks and after stopping administration for one week. Result After medicinals administration for two weeks the total effective rate was 94.0% in the treatment group and 77.1% in the control group. The comparison between two groups was significantly different (P<0.05). The curative effect was better in the treatment group than that in the control group one week after stopping medicinals administration (P<0.05). Conclusion There was a relieving effect on STC in two groups
but Modified Jichuan Decoction had more significant and longer curative effect.
