Objective To discuss the relationship between lifting-thrusting reinforcing-reducing method and reinforcing-reducing effect through observing the influences of lifting-thrusting reinforcing-reducing method in Zusanli (ST36) on red blood count (RBC)
hemoglobin (Hb) and mean corpuscular volume (MCV) in rabbit model of blood-deficiency syndrome. Methods All rabbits (n=60) were randomly divided into five groups including A group (blank group)
B group (model control group)
C group (retaining needle group)
D group (lifting-thrusting reinforcing method) and E group (lifting-thrusting reducing method). All groups were treated one time every other day for 10 times. Results After needling
the levels of RBC and Hb in peripheral blood increased significantly in B
C
D and E groups compared with those before needling (P<0.05). The comparison in the levels of RBC and Hb among all groups showed that the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05) on the 2nd
17th and 32nd days after needling. On the 17th day
MCV in peripheral blood was significantly different in B
C
D and E groups compared with that before needling (P<0.05). Conclusion There was no significant difference between lifting-thrusting reinforcing method (thrusting needle with force and lifting it gently) and lifting-thrusting reducing method (lifting needle with force and thrusting it gently) under the pathological condition of deficiency syndrome and no reinforcing-reducing effect showing.
