objective To observe the effect on RDW in cirrhosis patients before and after the treatment with root of membranous milkvetch and Fufangdanshen Injection. Method Sixty-five patients with cirrhosis were randomly divided into the treatment group treated with root of membranous milkvetch and Fufangdanshen Injection and the control group treated with Fufangdanshen Injection only. Both were treated once a day for 3 months. They were also compared with normal people. Result Before the treatment RDW-SD and RDW-CV of the patients in two groups were all obvious higher than that of normal people. After the treatment RDW-SD and RDW-CV of the patients were lower distinctly in the treatment group （P<0.01）

so the effect of the treatment group was better than that of the control group （P<0.05）. In the treatment group ALT

AST and Glb of the patients were all significant reduced after the treatment （P<0.01）

and Alb was increased than that before the treatment （P<0.05）. The effect on the treatment group was better. Conclusion Root of membranous milkvetch and Fufangdanshen Injection have ability to relieve RDW

recover liver function and promote cure of liver disease.
