Objective The curative effect of treatment of habitual constipation （HC） with Baizhutaohua Decoction was observed. Method Baizhutaohua Decoction （prescribed by the author and included 30 g rhizome

12 g peach blossom

30 g fresh root of rehmannia and 10 g immature bitter orange） was taken by the patient one dose a day. Seven days was one course. Meanwhile a control group with phenolphthalein table was set for comparison. Result Baizhutaohua Decoction was used to treat 117 cases of HC

among them 106 were cured

4 were improved. The total effective rate was 94.02%. In the control group with phenolphthalein table there were 66 cases. Among them 18 were cured

30 were improved. The total effectives rate was 72.73%. The total effective rates of two groups were compared and dealt with statistics. The result showed that P<0.01

so there was significant difference. Conclusion Baizhutaohua Decoction had quick effect

high safety

good conformity and satisfactory curative effect. Baizhutaohua Decoction had the function of invigorating qi and removing dampness

increasing the body fluid and activating qi circulation

and regulating and easing bowel movement.
