Objective To Observe the curative effect of acute brain infarction (ABI) with allincin and discuss the mechanism of treatment of ABI with allicin. Method Fifty-five cases of ABI
whose illnesses were onset within 3 days
were divided randomly into allicin group and the control group with ligustrazine. The curative effects and dynamic changes of serum MDA content in two groups were observed. Result After 2-week treatment the effective rate in allicin group was 75.76%
control group
64.64%. After 4-week treatment the effective rate in allicin group was 86.96%
the control group
76.47%. There was no difference (P>0.05). After 4-week treatment the improvement of grade of nerve injuries in allicin group was 10.00±5.59
in the control group
6.18±4.32 (P<0.05). Patients of ABI had higher serum MDA content than normal people (P<0.01). After 3-week treatment the cases in allicin group had a gradually decline in MDA content
which obviously lowered than the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion Allicin had good curative effect on ABI. The mechanism of it was to clear away free radical
lighten the injury of cerebral ischemia and reperfusion.
